17C:
Shogun “Mitsukuni Mito” ate ramen. He was the first Japanese who ate ramen.
18C 〜19C:
The first ramen shop in Japan ”Rairai-ken” opened.
1923 :
After the Grand Kanto Earthquake*, the population was scattered in rural areas. As a result, the ramen food culture spread rapidly throughout Japan.
*One of the biggest earthquake happened on Tokyo in 1923.
1958 :
“Cup noodle”, the first instant noodle in Japan, was launched.
〜〜
2015 :
A ramen restaurant* became the world’s first ramen restaurant with a Michelin star, according to “The Michelin Guide Tokyo 2016” . * “Tsuta” in Tokyo.
RAMEN FOR JAPANESE PEOPLE
Ramen is one of the most popular traditional food in Japan. Some families cook ramen by themselves at home and they sometimes visit a ramen restaurant and enjoy delicious ramen.
HOW TO ORDER
There are a few rules in Ramen Restaurants in Japan. They are really easy but you should check them in advance to make things run smoothly!
